Last Saturday, on 19th April 2025, I attended a webinar organized by @kamisenitani and Paguyuban Pangan, that discussed about "Why Should We Choose Local Food System?" Besides Teh Vania @vaniavanya from Seni Tani that talked about Seni Tani's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) implementation, the other speaker was my supervisor in my master degree and my lecturer at SITH ITB @sithitb Mr. Angga Dwiartama, Ph.D. @dwiartamaangga
He
explained that implementation of local food system was not just to
achieve food security, but to achieve social relation and bonding,
resilience, and prosperity through healthy food system.
The
local food system was implementing the moral economy that had important
roles in local society. He told that lot of examples for implementation
of local food system around the world including Indonesia, such as
Farmer's Market, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), Community
Garden and City Gardening, and other local market communities that was
still implementing local customs and local wisdoms.
We also
should do shifting from just a food consumers to a food citizen that had
a collective movement to rebuild the meaning of "local" in local food
system.
So let's improve our local food system in our regions,
because it's not just for achieving food security but for the prosperity
and sustainability in broaden perspective!
